Peace Scholar Raymond Hyma has been accepted by the Rotary Peace Center for admission to the three month Professional Development Certificate program at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2008, Mr Hyma completed the Rotary Peace Fellowship Master's Degree program at the Univeridad del Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina, majoring in International Relations.

Following graduation he has work for Immigration Services Society of British Columbia, in Vancouver; International Development Research Center in Ottawa; Cambodian Civil Society Partnership in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and Center for Peace and Conflict Studies in Siem Reap, Cambodia. His current position takes him to Myanmar to monitor the elections.

The Professional Development program will enable him to develop new skills in conflict analysis – a more hands-on approach.

Added to his impressive work history he has an equally impressive list of volunteer activities - sailing around the world from Tokyo, Japan on the Peace Boat; Japan Exchange Teaching Program; Netcorps Canada International/ Canada World Youth, Patronato San Jose Public Hospital, Quito, Equidor; Outreach Volunteer, Korea HIV/AIDS Prevention and Support Center, Seoul, Korea; and more.

Mr Hyma was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser for both programs.
